Paperwork Against the People | Dissent Magazine:
How Bureaucracy came to acquire such negative connotation? There is goal displacement and tail wagging the dog in bureaucracy. There is an East European song which says: Satan doesn't have red tails; it has red tape.

Turning Ram Manohar Lohiaji on his head
Turning Lohiaji on his head
In the present day Indian context, a Samajwadi ( Socialist) is one who discards society ( समाज बाद में, पहले स्वयं) and thinks only about him/herself. No wonder, Lohia's ideas of anti-Congressism has been stood on its head.

Torture and Taboo: On Elaine Scarry
Torture and Taboo: On Elaine Scarry | The Nation:
We are living in strange time. We are concerned with the rights and condition of the criminals, terrorists, anti-socials and persons of deviant behaviour, but don't care about the rights and condition of common people. When terrorists kill innocent people and police personnel, the protagonists of Human Rights remain mum, but when the State acts against these barbarians cries of Human Rights violation rent the air. Our permissiveness vis a vis the criminals is a reflection of the societal anomie.
