Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Bhagat Singh (Punjabi: ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ بھگت سنگھہ) (September 28,[1] 1907–March 23, 1931) was an Indian freedom fighter, considered to be one of the most famous revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement. For this reason, he is often referred to as Shaheed Bhagat Singh (the word shaheed means "martyr"). He is also believed by many to be one of the earliest Marxists in India.[2] He was one of the leaders and founders of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA).

Politics is simultaneously an activity, a process and a profession. As an activity politics is inherent in the human nature and therefore it is called a fundamental human activity. It is as fundamental to the human-being as hunger, sleep, thirst and sex  As a process politics emphasizes dialogue, give and take and reconciliation . It is based on the adage live and let live. As a profession it requires commitment and special knowledge of the needs of society and community. Politics is both a science and an art. As a science politics studies the way people govern themselves, control others and authoritative allocations are made for a society. As an art politics is the practice of governing, controlling, influencing and making authoritative allocation of values .

The Nero Prime Minister

Our Prime Minister is no less a nonchalant person than Nero of Rome or Videha of Mithila . Even the Supreme Court has expressed its dismay at the attitude of the Prime Minister .His silence on the Supreme Court observation is disquieting . Instead of  clearing the mist , the PM is more interested in singing paeans to Sonia Gandhi .

The Congress, communalism , casteism , corruption , criminalisation of politics and conflictual / confrontationist politics are the scourge of contemporary India . Let us see how all these are related and why are they the scourge of Indian politics . The recent tasteless remarks of K S Sudarshan about Sonia Gandhi and the disclosure by Shekhar Gupta about Sudarshan's views on Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and Nehru's alleged role in this is the obvious consequence of confrontationist politics as it exists in India .The Congress which came existence as a platform for various hues of Indian opinion has now turned into a confrontationist organization .Politics Today

Misuse of Investigating Agencies

The recent raids of income tax authorities on the BJP ministers and MLAs in Karnataka , the arraigning of Indresh Kumar in Rajasthan and the acts of CBI in Gujarat raise some very serious questions about the misuse of Central agencies against the political opponents of the govt at Centre. It is no body's case that persons or institutions indulging in corruption , violence and anti-national activities should be spared the rod of investigating agencies . But the rod should not be used in a selective and partisan way . The govt that sits over the hanging of Afzal Guru , that allows the seditious rants of Arundhati Roy and Gilani , that has a history of misusing the investigating agencies as in the case of Lalu Yadav and Mayavati ( asking the CBI to go slow ) and the govt which is hell-bent on humiliating its principal adversary will have to work hard to convince the people that its actions are not mala fide . The chiding of the CBI by the Supreme Court in the 2G scam case only shows the misuse of these agencies .The Apex Court's candid observation about the appointment of P J Thomas as the CVC exposes the gameplan of the UPA Govt led by the Congress .

Our National Character

In order to hide our faults and pusillanimous attitude , we talk about the idea of India and include in that all that have made our national character so weak-kneed .

Shamelessly Partisan Governor

Karnataka's governor , H R Bharadwaj is making the institution of governor , already controversial , even more controversial . Without holding any brief for the corruption-ridden Yedurappa govt. , one is inclined to think that Mr Bharadwaj is acting not as the constitutional head of the state, but as the leader of opposition . Mr Bharadwaj as the Law Minister received flak for his defence of the acts of governors like Buta Singh and Syed Sibte Razi . Now he has joined the company of Ramlal , Romesh Bhandari , Buta Singh and S S Razi . He has even surpassed his not so illustrious colleagues by asking Yedurappa to seek a confidence vote twice within a week , ignoring parliamentary practice . The Karnataka High Court's decision on 29 October upholding the decision of the Speaker to disqualify 11 members of BJP shows what type of Law Minister Mr Bharadwaj has been and what type of a constitutional head he is . After much criticism , Bharadwaj kept his mouth shut for about seven weeks . But the recklessness in him got the better of him . On December4 he again opened his mouth only to degrade the office of the governor . He questioned the authority of the govt to institute an inquiry commission on the land scandal . The Lokayukta has also took exception to the govt.'s move which is understandable . But the Governor's diatribe against his own govt. is a mockery of the constitutional scheme .
